THINKING / AN EVOLVING BODY OF WORK
Designing the
Conditions.
Leadership is not about providing every answer.
It is about designing the conditions in which better answers can emerge.
THE PREMISE
Every organisation already has conditions.
They are shaped by how decisions are made. How responsibility is distributed. What gets rewarded. What information travels—and what doesn't. How disagreement is handled. How much room exists for judgement, experimentation and initiative.
Together, these conditions shape what people are able—and willing—to do.

What would need to be true for the right thing to become more likely?
BETTER CONSTRAINTS
The aim is not fewer constraints.
It is better constraints.
Creativity in this context is not a function or profession. It is an organisation's capacity to navigate what is not already known and create possibilities within it.
That capacity draws on knowledge, data, judgement, empathy, imagination and situational awareness—and becomes increasingly important as complexity and change accelerate.
Designing the Conditions is an evolving body of thinking. It is being developed through practice, writing and conversation.
